The Outsiders Athlete Program is an initiative of The Elevation Fund, created to support athletes with more opportunities to build sustainable careers around their sport.

The Elevation Fund was established alongside The Outsiders, with the two working closely together across athlete opportunities, creative projects, funding and commercial partnerships.

At The Outsiders, we pitch to 250+ brands every year across outdoor sports, adventure, travel, lifestyle and beyond. We’re regularly talking with brands, resorts, destinations, businesses, filmmakers and other partners about athletes and projects.

Along the way, we hear about commercial opportunities that could be relevant to athletes in our network. The Athlete Program gives us a way to share those opportunities directly with athletes.

That might be a brand partnership, ambassador opening, resort collaboration, camp or coaching opportunity, film project, film funding, content opportunity or something completely different.

We’ll also be dedicating specific effort to creating brand and commercial opportunities for athletes in Japan, connecting athletes in our network with Japanese brands and businesses and creating opportunities for athletes to earn money through their sport.

The Athlete Program is led by The Outsiders founder Michelle Bates, who has spent her career working across rugby union, endurance sports and multiple Olympic cycles. Michelle is passionate about supporting athletes to build sustainable careers and creating more opportunities for athletes to earn from what they do.

The Outsiders works with brands and partners across the world, and the Athlete Program is one way we can share some of the opportunities we come across with the athletes in our network.
